LEWISBURG, Pa. – One day after pouring in a career-high 30 points in a key victory over Army, Bucknell senior guard Josh Bascoe has been named the Patriot League Men's Basketball PenFed Credit Union Player of the Week.
Bascoe was sensational on his Senior Day, recording 30 points, five assists, and four steals in Bucknell's 84-53 win. He scored 18 points in the first half as the Bison held the lead in the game for all but 18 seconds. He finished the day 11-for-18 from the field, 5-for-8 from 3-point range, and 3-for-3 from the foul line.
Bascoe recorded Bucknell's second 30-point game of the season, joining Noah Williamson who had 32 against Southern Indiana on Nov. 7. It was the 10th time a Bison player scored at least 30 points in a game at Sojka Pavilion. He also logged 14 points and four assists in a 67-50 win over Lehigh earlier in the week.
Saturday's win gave the Bison a perfect 9-0 home record in Patriot League play. They have now won seven of their last eight games to improve to 15-14 overall and 11-5 in the conference. With two games remaining in the regular season, Bucknell is one game behind first-place American and has clinched a top-four seed for the Patriot League Tournament.
The Bison are back in action on Wednesday night at Loyola.
