Men's Soccer's Season Comes to an End in 3-1 Loss at Boston University in the Patriot League Quarterfinals

BOSTON, Mass. – The Bucknell men's soccer team's season came to an end in the Patriot League quarterfinals as Boston University took down the Bison 3-1 at Nickerson Field on Saturday afternoon.
Drew Roskos scored just two minutes into the match for Bucknell (9-4-5), but Boston U. (10-7) equalized in the first half and scored twice in the second half.
Roskos won an aerial ball in the box and battled for the ball before scoring his eighth goal of the season. Through two defenders, the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year controlled possession and tucked his shot into the bottom right corner.
In the 21st minute, Alex Bonnington broke beyond the back line. He looked to have been offsides, but the forward held his run well. Bonnington darted toward goal and buried his shot into the bottom left corner.
Roskos nearly put the Bison back in front with two opportunities early in the second half. Just a minute apart, Roskos got possession with the keeper to beat. Sheraz Saadat made two incredible saves on both opportunities to keep the match level.
It was Bonnington again scoring his second goal of the match to put the Terriers in front early in the second half. The Bison held a majority of possession after the break, but Sebastian Otero sent Bonnington through on goal on a counter attack. Bonnington had a great finish, and the Terriers went up 2-1 after 58 minutes.
The Bison pressed on, but it was another counter attack for the Terriers to go ahead 3-1 in the 77th minute. Rex Alphen made a brilliant save on a close-range shot, but Ethan Gill came in to put away the rebound.
Boston U. out-shot the Bison 10-7 and both sides had three corners. Alphen made three saves in the match and Saadat made four.
This was the final match of their career for Zane Domsohn, Freddie Lapworth, Cade McGrath, Jimmy Pombor, Ben Sheffield, Jackson Sullivan and Cohen Weaver.
