LEWISBURG, Pa. — Nicholas Penuvchev earned Patriot League Rookie of the Week after the Bison's 37-20 loss to Holy Cross in their final home game of the season.
After the first and second string Bucknell quarterbacks got hurt on consecutive plays, Penuvchev was tasked with leading the Bison offense through the end of the first half and the entire second half under center.
The freshman, who had previously only seen one snap against Fordham, went 13-of-22 for 237 yards and two touchdowns. The touchdown pass, which made it a one score game at the end of the third quarter, was Penuchev's career first.
This is Bucknell's third PL Rookie of the Week honor of the season after defensive backs James Schlendorf and Zachary Corna earned conference nods earlier in the season.Bucknell sits at 5-6 overall and 2-4 in the Patriot League with one contest remaining. The Bison will head up to Colgate to take on the Raiders at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 22 in hopes of closing out with a .500 season.
