LEWISBURG, Pa. – Four members of the Bucknell women's tennis team were named to the 2024 Academic All-District Team, selected by College Sports Communicators. Juniors Whitney King, Anna Lajos and Caroline Marcus were each named to the Academic All-District Team for a second year in a row, and sophomore Abby Platt became a first-time honoree.
The Academic All-District Teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.
King takes home her second academic award of the month after earning a spot on the Academic All-Patriot League Team earlier in May. The Sarasota, Fla. native was also named to the All-Patriot League First Team for a second time this season after going 18-10 in singles and 22-5 in doubles while playing exclusively on court one in dual matches. King is a markets, innovation & design major.
Lajos, who hails from Saint Petersburg, Russia, tied for third on the roster in singles wins with a 14-7 record and went 18-15 in doubles play, including a 6-2 mark at second doubles. An international relations major with a double minor in political science and Spanish, Lajos is part of Bucknell's Mentor Collective program, helping first-year students adjust to life at Bucknell.
Marcus, a native of New Orleans, La., picked up 12 wins in doubles play this season and earned singles victories over opponents from Lafayette, Mount St. Mary's and Siena. The two-time Academic All-District honoree has maintained a perfect 4.0 grade-point average throughout her collegiate career as a markets, innovation & design major.
Platt earns a spot on the Academic All-District Team during her first year of eligibility. A Dallas, Texas native, Platt led the Bison in singles wins with a 19-8 record, including a 12-4 mark at third singles in duals. She also matched King with 22 doubles wins on court one. Platt is a business analytics major who has earned a spot on Bucknell's Dean's List each semester.
