Kemp Takes Home Patriot League Men's Track & Field Rookie of the Week

LEWISBURG, Pa.- The Bucknell Bison men's track & field squad accomplished several impressive results at the Bison Outdoor Classic and Bernard Kemp's performance in the long jump was one of the headliners. The league office noticed, granting Kemp Patriot League Men's Track & Field Rookie of the Week. Kemp previously earned the award during the indoor season.Â
Kemp, who came off a sterling showing in the 2024 CARIFTA (Caribbean Free Trade Association) Championships, continued his hot streak in the long jump. The freshman finished first at the Classic with a leap of 24-1 1/2. The mark would rest fifth in Bucknell history if Kemp had not already claimed that slot with his 24-3 1/4 performance in the CARIFTA Games. Patty B, as he is popularly known, now holds spots in both the indoor and outdoor long jump lists for the Bison.Â
The Bison and Kemp return to action this weekend at home for the Bucknell Team Classic. It will be a scoring match and serve as additional training for the home site of the Patriot League Championships.Â
