
Men’s Golf Wraps up Opening Week in Puerto Rico

RESULTS
HUMACAO, Puerto Rico – Freshman Alex Creamean posted his second straight 1-under-par 71, his seventh under-par tally in his last nine rounds dating back to the fall season, to lead the Bucknell men's golf team to a 296 final-round team score on Tuesday at the Palmas del Mar Collegiate. The Bison improved each day but finished in 16th place in a loaded field.
Bucknell shot 901 over 54 holes (306-299-296). Arkansas won the tournament at 27-under 837. Tournament host UNC Greensboro was second at 20-under 844, as the top 11 teams in the field all finished below par.
Creamean started his final round on the 12th hole and used a birdie-birdie finish at 10 and 11 to post yet another red number. He made four birdies on the day and 11 over the three rounds to finish in a tie for 57th place at 4-over 220.
James Robbins turned in his best round of the week with a 1-over 73, and the Bison also counted a pair of 76s from James Key and Hayden Quinn. Key ate up the Flamboyan Course's front nine on Tuesday, making four birdies and five pars for a 4-under 32.
The medalist was Michigan's Hunter Thomson, whose closing 64 was the low round of the tournament. Thomson shot 68-69-64 for a 15-under 201, good for a two-shot win over Mercer's Tobias Jonsson.
Bucknell returns to action in two weeks at the Loyola Intercollegiate at Palm Valley GC in Goodyear, Ariz.
