Volleyball Places Three on CSC Academic All-District List

LEWISBURG, Pa.- The 2024 Academic All-District® Volleyball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC), recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom were released on Tuesday for women's volleyball. Three Bison, Caleigh O'Connell, Tijana Kostic, and Riley Tucker received the honor.Â
CSC Release
O'Connell reached new heights during the 2024 season winning the program's first-ever Patriot League Setter of the Year award. Despite a late-season injury, the junior finished 76th nationally in digs per set (9.64) and had 887 overall, both high marks in the conference. Academically, the Markets, Innovation, and Design major holds an outstanding 3.77 GPA and tabbed a spot on the 2024 Academic All-Patriot League Team.Â
Kostic broke through as a starter in 2024 and delivered her finest performance providing career highs in kills (222) and digs (269). She ranked second in the conference in aces per set (0.38) and tenth in points (289). She brought home Second Team All-Patriot League honors as part of the program's record setting eight PL awards. The Economics major has a strong 3.64 GPA.Â
Tucker anchored the Bucknell defense as a middle blocker collecting 85 total blocks and producing 148 kills. The sophomore hit .275 ranking second best on the team en route to scoring 197.5 points. The Biology major is the proud owner of an amazing 3.85 GPA and recently received scuba diving certification - a process highlighted by a Patriot League special feature.Â
The 2024 Bucknell Volleyball team set new standards for excellence topping the program's record for winning percentage (.808) and conference wins (13). The Bison collected three major awards (Coach of the Year, Libero of the Year, and Setter of the Year) and placed five members on All-League Teams. The squad earned the No.2 seed in the Patriot League Tournament - the highest seed since slotting third in 2006.Â
Select student-athletes will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced January 14, 2025. O'Connell joins this exclusive group.Â
The Bison will return to the court in August 2025.Â
