Dingler Returns for Second Stint as WBB Captain

LEWISBURG, Pa.- Senior Caroline Dingler was selected captain by her teammates for a second consecutive season, the Bucknell women's basketball team announced Monday. The Rome, Georgia native will lead the Bison herd in their quest for the 2023-24 Patriot League Championship.Â
"We're thrilled that the team has chosen to elevate Caroline into the Captain's role," said head coach Trevor Woodruff. "It is a vital position within any program and requires someone with great maturity, work ethic, and a mindset to serve those around them before serving themselves. Few players in my career exemplify those characteristics on the level that Caroline does. Everyone will benefit from her leadership."
"I'm excited to see what this last year brings with the team," said Dingler. "I can't imagine a better team and a better senior class to conclude my four years with."
Dingler's tenacious play, suffocating defense on the court, and off-the-court achievements paint the portrait of an ideal captain. Dingler played in 29 games last year, including a stretch of ten games, as a starter, where she stepped up and held down the fort due to injuries. During that junction, she played six straight games of 30+ minutes. Dingler averaged 1.2 points and 1.8 rebounds while distributing 26 assists in 2022-23. But her best impact didn't reside in readily apparent statistical categories but her leadership and defensive lockdown on opponent's focal points.Â
Dingler and the Bison open the season at Penn State in a renewal of the Route 45 Rivalry on Nov. 7.Â
