LEWISBURG, Pa.- Jordan Hardy was tabbed as the Patriot League Preseason Libero of the Year, and the Bison were selected to finish fifth in the preseason poll the conference announced on Thursday.Â
In 2022, Hardy, a native of sunny Winter Park, Florida, used her defensive specialist skills to power Bucknell to a 15-11 overall mark, an 8-8 record in Patriot League play, and earning the first PL tournament berth since 2010. She led the Patriot League in digs (591), 71 more than the nearest opposition, and digs per serve (5.68). Hardy was All-Patriot League Second Team last season.Â
Bucknell earned 68 points to earn a predicted finish of fifth. If the seeding holds, the Bison will participate in back-to-back Patriot League Tournaments for the first time since the 2005 and 2006 seasons. Last season's champion Colgate is projected to repeat, collecting 126 points, and 14 of the 18 cast first-place votes. Second-place Army is right on the Raiders' tail with 124 votes and two first-place tallies. Navy is third (98) and deposited the remaining two first-place votes. Perennial power American has 78 votes. Loyola (Md.), with 67 votes, was right behind Bucknell. Lehigh finished seventh with 41, followed by Lafayette with 30, and Holy Cross grabbed 16 points.Â
If Hardy can replicate the honor for the postseason award, she will be the first Libero of the Year award winner in Bucknell history.Â
Hardy and the Bison open the season in eight days with a tournament at Liberty.Â
