Whitney King Garners Women's Tennis First Team All-Patriot League Honors

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell sophomore Whitney King was among the six student-athletes recognized on the 2023 Women's Tennis All-Patriot League First Team, the league office announced Wednesday afternoon. The Bison have had at least one player earn All-Patriot League honors every year since 2002.
King posted a 12-7 singles record while playing primarily at the No. 1 position. She was also 18-8 in doubles play, including a 14-6 mark in the top spot and a sterling 6-0 mark against Patriot League foes. King earned Patriot League Player of the Week recognition in the final week of the regular season, and she captured doubles and singles wins in the quarterfinal round of the Patriot League Tournament to help the Bison down Colgate and advance to the semis.
A Sarasota, Fla. native, King has had an outstanding start to her Bucknell career, as she tied for the program's 10th-most single-season doubles victories as a freshman in 2021-22. She now boasts a 40-13 career doubles record and a 30-10 career singles mark over her two seasons.
King was joined on the First Team by Army's Cooper Jackson, league-champion Boston's Michelle Kleynerman and Shelly Yaloz, Lehigh's Hamsa Javagal and Navy's Emily Tannenbaum, who earned the Player of the Year award.
The Second Team was made up of Army's Maria Drobotova and Ylan Duong, Boston's Victoria Carlsten and Kaitlin Tan, Colgate's Amelia Galin and Navy's Sia Chaudry.
The Bucknell women's tennis team finished the season 13-13 (4-3 PL), achieving its highest win total since 2018-19.
