Quinn Sets 200 Meter Dash Record at the First Day of ECAC Championships
3/4/2023 8:42:00 PM | Women's Track and Field
BOSTON, Mass- Meghan Quinn continued her sensational 2022-23 indoor season by resetting the Bucknell record in the 200 Meter Dash. The junior's run highlighted several excellent performances by the women's team at the ECAC Championships.Â
"The women had a great day one, and we are set up nicely with many people in the finals along with Siobhan O'Sullivan in the shot put as a top seed," said head coach Kevin Donner. "We have a team in all three relays, and I do not believe we have ever scored points in all three events at the ECAC Championships, so we are trying to make history. Our sprinters lit things up today, but this is a war of attrition, and day two is critical."
As mentioned, Quinn's record-breaking run in the 200 Meter Dash was the Bucknell headliner. The sprinter dashed a time of 24.14, which improved upon her just set at the Patriot League Indoor Championships record time of 24.23. Quinn finished fourth in the preliminaries and will compete in the finals tomorrow.Â
The Bison finished first in the 4x400 Meter Relay preliminaries as the crackerjack quartet of Katherine Loew, Jessie Castellano, Meghan Quinn, and Bridget Lalonde are attempting to defend their 2022 victory with a time of 3:43.00. The time is now second in Bucknell history. They improved by 0.57 seconds on their 2022 time.Â
The 400 Meter Dash witnessed two Bison enter the top ten lists. Jessie Castellano raced to a time of 56.05, which pleased her fourth in Bucknell history and 17th in the preliminaries. Alison Cooke's time of 56.93 slotted her 23rd in the preliminaries but seventh in the Bucknell record books. Bridget Lalonde finished fourth on a time of 55.47 to qualify for the finals. Her time is 0.14 seconds behind her personal best time of 55.33, tied for the best in Bucknell history.Â
Katherine Loew shined in the 500 Meter Dash. She finished third and qualified for the finals with a time of 1:14.65. That mark inserts her fourth in the Bucknell annals.Â
The quartet of Hailey Tabar, Lauren Shaffer, Meredith Haberfield, and Eva Lindner qualified for the finals of the 4x800 Meter Relay with their mark of 9:19.23. They finished eighth.Â
Olivia Boyce and Abby Kates finished eighth (5-03.00) in the High Jump. Each jumper netted the Bison 0.25 points.Â
Kate Amaddio finished ninth in the 5000 Meter Run with a time of 17:31.59.Â
