
Women's Tennis Hosts Navy for Sunday Patriot League Matchup

Bucknell at a Glance
• The Bison jump back into Patriot League play this weekend when they host Navy at the Varsity Tennis Courts at noon on Sunday. It's the first of five Patriot League teams the Bison will face over the next month to round out the regular season.
• Bucknell moved to 9-10 (1-1 PL) with three straight losses in South Carolina over spring break. Prior to that, the Bison had won seven of their last eight.
• Anna Lajos currently leads the Bison with 14 singles wins on the season. Abby Platt, who has twice been an honorable mention for PL Women's Player of the Week, leads the team in overall doubles wins with 14.
• Bucknell went 12-10 (3-3 PL) during the 2021-22 season, securing its highest win total since 2018-19. The Bison ended up falling to Loyola in the quarterfinal round of the Patriot League Championships, 4-2.
• The Bison graduated their lone All-Patriot Leaguer, Daniela Bellini, in the spring. They welcomed two freshmen in the fall and entered the spring season with eight total on the roster.
• Juniors Kate Novak and Tyne Miller are serving as team captains this season.
• Bucknell played its first seven matches of the spring on the road before hosting its first home match on Feb. 19. The Bison will play just two of their final five at home.
• Bucknell is under the direction of fourth-year head coach Tammy Cecchini. She was previously the head coach at Valparaiso from 2015 to 2018 and spent the 2014-15 season with Valpo as an assistant coach.

Navy at a Glance
• The Midshipmen are 12-4 (0-0 PL) on the season and have won three in a row. The Mids defeated UConn, South Dakota and Niagara over two days in Orlando, Fla. last week and will visit Lehigh on Saturday before arriving in Lewisburg.
• Navy returned 2022 First Team All-Patriot League selection and Rookie of the Year Emily Tannenbaum. The sophomore is 22-9 overall in singles this season and 9-3 in duals, playing solely at the No. 1 position. She's also 18-8 in doubles action.
• The Mids posted a stellar 22-6 overall record during the 2021-22 campaign, including a 4-1 mark in league play. They defeated Lehigh in last year's PL Tournament quarterfinals before falling to Army in the semis.
• Navy leads the all-time series with Bucknell, 15-2. Bucknell's last win over the Mids came in 2010.
• Navy defeated Bucknell 6-1 in Annapolis during last year's matchup. Daniella Bellini won in the top singles position for Bucknell's lone point.

• Bucknell enjoys a two-week hiatus before facing Lehigh in Bethlehem, Pa. on Saturday, April 8.
