PANAMA CITY, Fla. – The Bucknell women's golf team improved by 18 shots over its first-round score with a 329 total on day two of Lipcomb's Lady Bison Bay Point Classic. Freshman Paige Richter was the low Bison for the second straight day with an 80, followed closely by Kayla Yi with an 81.
With one more round to play on Tuesday, the Bison are in 13th place with a 676 team total, 13 better than 14th-place Bethune-Cookman. Lipscomb led the field with a second-round 308 and maintained its grip on first place with a 599 total, eight shots better than Florida Gulf Coast and 20 in front of third-place North Alabama.
Bucknell was one of only five schools in the 15-team field to improve on its first-round score. Richter had only one hole worse than bogey all day, and Kayla and Kelsey Yi both tallied two birdies apiece. After a slow start, Tatum McKelvey got it going with a 2-over-par 38 on the Nicklaus Course's front nine, and she finished with an 83. The Bison also counted an 85 from Tara Thomas.
Sarah Frazier of Dayton and Siarra Stout of Lipscomb are now in a share of the individual lead at 1-over 145. Lipscomb's Lauren Thompson, the first-round leader, is just one shot back.
The third and final round gets underway with an 8 a.m. shotgun start on Tuesday morning.
