
Swim & Dive Wraps Up Opening Day of ECAC Championships

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Bucknell swimming & diving team competed in the first day of the 2023 ECAC Championships at Lejeune Hall Friday. Through the first round of events, the women sit in second place with 150 points, and the Bison men are in eighth with 43 points. The women's team trails only Navy, which leads the way with 164 points.
The women claimed five top-3 finishes, including a gold-medal effort by Reggie Frias in the three-meter dive. Frias' score of 272.00 was just shy of the 274.40 she posted at last week's Patriot League Championships and earned her the top spot Friday evening.
Kyla Kelly and Stephanie Walsh were Bucknell's other individual medalists on Friday. Kelly took second place in the 200 IM with a 2:04.14, while Walsh finished just behind her teammate in the event with a 2:04.69 for third place.
Bucknell's women also took second place in the 400 medley relay behind the efforts of Esme Hunter, Hanna Bingley, Molly See and Megan Phelan, as the group finished in 3:49.52 just behind Navy. The 200 freestyle team of Megan Leyden, Walsh, Jacqueline Rounsavill and Phelan placed third with a 1:36.14.
On the men's side, Nick Pirone added a program top-10 mark in the one-meter dive with a score of 278.70, which places the senior fourth in the record book and in third place at Friday's meet.
The men's 400 medley relay team of Chase Ferguson, Ryaan Hatoum, Matt Raudabaugh, Sam Sweetser took seventh with a 3:26.28, and its 200 freestyle team placed 10th.
Navy also leads the way on the men's side with 255 points, while the Bison sit just behind Roger Williams University (52).
The second day of the ECAC Championships begins with more prelims at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
