POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Noah Harris made five of Marist's nine first-half 3-pointers to send the hot-shooting Red Foxes to a 73-49 win over Bucknell on Saturday afternoon at McCann Arena. Josh Bascoe tallied 14 points and Ruot Bijiek had 10 for the Bison, who found clean looks at the basket hard to come by all day.
Marist outshot Bucknell from the field 56.0 percent to 28.8 percent and hit 12 of 23 from the 3-point arc to Bucknell's 7 for 35. Harris scored all 15 of his points in the first half, and Jaden Daughtry added 12 to lead a balanced Marist scoring ledger.
The Red Foxes were playing at home for the first time all season, and they found their home rims to be friendly with a red-hot start from downtown. Harris started 5-for-6 from the arc and the team hit nine of its first 13 en route to an early 15-point lead.
Bascoe scored six straight points with an and-1 and a corner 3-pointer to bring the Bison within nine, but on Marist's next possession, Harris beat the shot-clock buzzer with a step-back triple. He would hit two more in the half to restore 15-point leads for the Red Foxes.
Noah Williamson's tip-in just before the horn sent the Bison to the locker room down a dozen at 39-27. Daughtry hit a 3-pointer for Marist on the first possession of the second half, and Bucknell was just 1-for-8 in the first seven minutes of the half as the Red Foxes broke the game open. A 10-0 run capped by two free throws from Jackson Price stretched the margin to 52-29, and the Red Foxes were on their way.
Quin Berger scored a career-high eight points off the bench, and Pip Ajayi led the Bison with five rebounds. Both team's leading scorers were held in check. Marist's Max Allen II, who was coming off a 28-point game against New Hampshire, finished with eight, but the Red Foxes bottled up Patriot League scoring leader Jack Forrest. The Bison senior was held without a 3-pointer for the first time all season and was limited to two points.
After playing six of its first eight games away from home, Bucknell returns to Sojka Pavilion on Wednesday to host unbeaten Princeton at 7 p.m.
