About Bucknell
• Fresh off a bronze medal at the Patriot League championships, junior Samuel Whittaker will compete in the 5000 after entering Bucknell's all-time top 10 list in the event last weekend with a 14:18.54. He'll be joined in the event by rookie Ben Santos, who also ran the 5000 during the indoor IC4A championships.
• Another rookie making his first appearance in an outdoor IC4A championships is Brian Scotto, who nabbed fourth place at the league championships in the 110 hurdles. After missing much of the spring season, Scotto ran a personal-best 15.10 in the prelims last weekend. Sophomore Kameron Schreffler will run the event on Saturday as well.
• Continuing with the rookie class, Bobby Lynam makes his outdoor IC4A debut in the 1500 following a personal-best 3:54.02 at the Bucknell Team Challenge, and Brandon Foust qualified for both the 100 and 200. Foust scored in both events at the league championships last week and was named Patriot League Rookie of the Week earlier in the season. Sophomore Matthew Perello will join Foust in both events.
• Junior Noah Martin scored in the league championships as well (4th, 9:15.81) and will run the 3000 steeplechase, while Ethan Wolford-Tuffy and Aiden Brewer will compete in the 400. Wolford-Tuffy placed fourth last weekend and ran the ninth-best time (48.32) in program history early in the season at the Colonial Relays.
• Additional individual runners that qualified include Peter Sorensen in the 10k and Max Spaulding in the 400 hurdles.
• Eight different field athletes posted qualifying marks, beginning with Robert Feeney in the hammer throw. The sophomore registered a career-best 185-4 two weeks ago, which ranks eighth on the top 10 list, and placed sixth at the league championships. He also earned All-East status last season. Junior John Calisi is also expected to compete in the hammer throw on the opening day of the meet.
• Anthony Zamarra scored in shot put at the PL championships (5th, 53-5) and will compete alongside Braden Stryker at the IC4A meet. Stryker also qualified in discus.
• Additional IC4A qualifiers include Trevor Drescher in javelin, Matt Federovich in long jump, Franco Perinotti in pole vault and Jaden Rouse in triple jump. Perinotti earned All-East status during the indoor season.
• Bucknell's 4x100, 4x800 and 4x400 relay teams will all have the opportunity to compete in Williamsburg.
Coach Donner's Take
"We have 22 men competing at the IC4A championships this weekend, and many of them are underclassmen who will be gaining great experience," said head coach Kevin Donner. "This is the 146th year, which makes it the oldest collegiate meet in the country, and it's a huge stepping stone to get to the next level. I believe we have a number of guys capable of scoring and making the All-East team."
