Austin Odell Garners First Career Patriot League Pitcher of the Week Award

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Bucknell senior Austin Odell has been named the Patriot League Pitcher of the Week after throwing eight shutout innings in Bucknell's 8-0 win over Holy Cross on Sunday afternoon.

Odell earns the first weekly honor of his career, and Bucknell's fourth Patriot League weekly honor this season. Will Greer has earned Pitcher of the Week honors twice, while Tyler Dunn was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week earlier this season.

The native of Chester Springs, Pa. has blossomed into a full-on starter as a senior, earning his fifth win of the year to tie with Greer for the team lead. The five wins for Odell ranks second in the Patriot League behind Lehigh's Luke Rettig. Odell has pitched a career-best 45 innings already this season after battling injuries early on in his collegiate career, and his ERA of 4.40 ranks tenth in the Patriot League.

In Patriot League play, Odell has been even better. Odell's 3.23 ERA in conference games currently ranks seventh, and he also leads the league in innings pitched in league games with 39 total this season. The senior boasts a 5-0 record in Patriot League competition this season.

On Sunday, Odell shut out the Crusaders for a career-best eight innings to go along with a season-high five strikeouts. Odell has managed to go at least seven innings in six starts this season, and in all but one of his six Patriot League appearances in 2022.

Bucknell returns to action on Wednesday when it travels to Navy for a single game set for a 4:30 p.m. first pitch.
