Brewer Wins Decathlon 400 on Day One of Bison Outdoor Classic

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell men's track & field team opened the 2022 Bison Outdoor Classic on Thursday and completed the first five events of the decathlon as well as the discus. Aiden Brewer, who was one of five Bison to compete on the opening day of the meet, won the decathlon's 400 and currently sits 11th with 2,923 points.
Brewer's 50.47 in the 400 was a new personal best and beat out second-place Caleb Carney of East Stroudsburg (51.02) as well as 15 other competitors. Slippery Rock's Jason Goodman is currently in first place in the decathlon (3,549).
Brewer also posted a new career-best time in the decathlon's 100, finishing 11th with an 11.74. The senior took 13th in the long jump (18-6), 14th in high jump (5-4.25) and 16th in shot put (29-8.25).
Bucknell also saw four athletes compete in discus on Thursday, as Braden Stryker finished ninth of 27 with a 147-10, Dariel Guzman placed 19th with a 131-2, Jaxon White was 21st with a 130-11, and Anthony Zamarra took 24th with a 128-2.
Events resume at 8:30 a.m. on Friday with the decathlon 110 hurdles.
