Zach Hartman also makes third NCAA Coaches' Panel Rankings
INDIANAPOLIS – Bucknell's Zach Hartman, Darren Miller and Brandon Seidman made the second NCAA Ratings Percentage Index (RPI), which is used in the selection process to determine the qualifiers for the 2022 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships.
In addition, Hartman appeared in the third NCAA Coaches' Panel Rankings. The two-time All-American and defending EIWA champion checked in at 12th in the 165-pound weight class, a five-spot rise from the second rendition. He has now appeared in all 14 of the NCAA Coaches' Panel Rankings compiled during his time in Lewisburg to date.
In the RPI, Hartman stood 11th. Miller was 25th at 141 pounds while Seidman checked in at 32nd in the 125-pound weight class.
Hartman, a senior captain, boasts a 23-3 (15-1 dual) record. He leads the Bison in pins (7) and technical falls (3) and went a perfect 8-0 in EIWA dual action. In addition, he defeated six nationally ranked opponents, including then No. 8 Travis Wittlake of Oklahoma State. His career record stands at 90-23 (45-6 dual); his 26 career pins are good for eighth in the Bucknell annals.
Miller, a junior captain who qualified for the 2021 NCAA Championships in the 133-pound weight class, is currently 13-3 (8-3 dual). He has paced the Bison in major decisions (6) and strung together one six-bout and one five-bout winning streak over the course of the season.
Seidman, a senior captain, owns a 16-12 (11-7 dual) ledger. In EIWA action, he went a strong 7-3; since the calendar turned to 2022, he has posted an 8-4 record, running together a five-bout winning streak during that stretch. Seidman, like Hartman, is one of eight former EIWA placewinners on Bucknell's 2021-22 roster.
Wrestlers in each weight class are measured by winning percentage, rating percentage index (RPI) and coaches' rankings to earn spots in their qualifying tournaments for the 2022 NCAA Championships, slated for March 17-19 at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Mich. The coaches' rankings are determined by a vote of 14 coaches in each weight class with two head coaches from each conference. For ranking purposes, coaches may only consider a wrestler that has been designated as a starter at a respective weight class. For the first ranking, wrestlers must have two Division I matches in the weight class to be considered with at least one within the last 30 days.
