LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell volleyball's Tijana Kostic was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week on Tuesday, becoming the second Bison freshman to earn the award this season. It's the fifth time overall that Bucknell has had a Rookie of the Week honoree in 2022.
Kostic put together a breakout weekend, totaling 25 kills and 11 block assists to help Bucknell go 2-0 and secure a Patriot League Tournament berth for the first time since 2010.
A native of Burr Ridge, Ill., Kostic posted career highs in both kills and block assists. Her 15 kills against American on Friday came on 37 total attempts with just two errors, giving her a .351 hitting percentage. She was in double figures for a third time this season against Loyola on Saturday with 10 kills.
Along with her 10 kills against the Greyhounds, Kostic supplied an outstanding nine block assists in the four-set victory. The mark fell one shy of the Bucknell single-match record of 10, which was last reached in 2017. She also totaled four digs in last weekend's action, providing two in each match.
Bucknell has one regular-season match left at Navy on Sunday. The Bison are locked in as the fifth seed in the tournament and will play at fourth-seeded Loyola in the quarterfinal round on Tuesday, Nov. 15.
