PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Bucknell wrestling team raced past Brown, 31-9, on Saturday afternoon at the Pizzitola Sports Center.
Bolstered by pins in the first and final bouts of the dual, the Bison improved to 8-2 overall, and 4-0 in EIWA action, with their victory over the Bears (2-4, 1-2 EIWA).
No. 18 Zach Hartman (165) staked Bucknell an early 6-0 advantage by bringing A.J. Corrado's shoulders to the mat in just 1:55. It was his team-leading sixth pin of the season and the 25th of his decorated career; he now stands alone in eighth among Bison in career victories by fall.
Not to be outdone, Nick Delp (157) closed the dual with a first-period pin of his own. Delp, who has now scored two of his three EIWA victories by fall, needed just 1:11 to pin Mason Spears and put an exclamation mark on the Bison's fifth-straight team victory.
Phipps improved to a Bison-best 9-1 in overall dual action and 4-0 in EIWA dual competition. He and Hartman, at 2-0, are Bucknell's remaining undefeated wrestlers in EIWA duals.
