Bucknell Wrestling Topples Harvard, 20-12

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Bucknell wrestling team toppled Harvard, 20-12, on Friday night at the Malkin Athletic Center.
The Bison (7-2, 3-0 EIWA), who were ranked 19th in the first NWCA Division I Mid-Major Wrestling Coaches Poll of the season, spoiled the Crimson's (0-1, 0-1 EIWA) first home dual in over 700 days by winning four of its final five bouts to emerge victorious.
No. 18 Zach Hartman (165) opened the dual-deciding run with a 10-2 major decision over Alex Whitworth. Logan Deacetis (184) picked up a 10-2 major decision of his own over Luke Rada while Sam Barnes (174) and Mason McCready (197) added critical decisions.
Barnes blanked Mike Doggett, 5-0, in a hard-fought bout while McCready edged Nick Marcenelle, 6-3. Bucknell's other victors were Brandon Seidman (125) and Kurt Phipps (133), both of whom won by decision to stake their team an early 6-0 lead.
Deacetis and Hartman each scored his 14th victory of the season. Deacetis's major decision was his fourth, slotting him in a tie for first among Bison with 2021 NCAA qualifier Darren Miller.
Phipps and Seidman each moved to a Bucknell-best 3-0 in EIWA dual competition. In addition, Phipps improved to a team-leading 8-1 in overall dual action.
Luke Niemeyer (285) was edged by a single point while Nick Delp (157) was downed by two. Delp's tight loss was his first in an EIWA dual this season.Â
The Bison return to action tomorrow by taking on Brown at 12 p.m. in Providence, R.I.
