LEWISBURG, Pa. – Second-year Bucknell softball head coach Sarah Caffrey announced Friday the additions of Anna Kirk and Tim Cuozzo to her staff as assistant coaches.
Kirk, who joins Bucknell after spending last year as an assistant coach at Ashland University, will primarily work with the infielders and hitters. Cuozzo spent the past two years as a graduate assistant coach at Georgia Tech and will work with the Bison catchers, outfielders and hitters.
"I'm extremely excited to welcome both Anna and Tim to our Bucknell family. They both bring great energy, passion and knowledge of the game with them," said Caffrey. "They have both spent time working under some great coaches, and I believe they will elevate our team and serve as great mentors to our players."
While at Ashland, Kirk served as both an offensive and defensive coach, helping to guide the Eagles to a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament appearance last spring.
Before that, she operated in the same role at Muskingum University during the 2019-20 academic year and served as a volunteer assistant coach at her alma mater, Ohio State, from 2017 to 2019. The Buckeyes reached the NCAA tournament each season that Kirk was on the staff.
Kirk found similar success as a four-year starter in the infield for the Buckeyes softball program, landing on the 2017 Big Ten All-Defensive Team and leading her squad to an NCAA tournament appearance as a senior. She also received OSU Scholar-Athlete and Academic All-Big Ten recognition and was a 2017 Big Ten Sportsmanship Honoree.
Kirk earned a bachelor's degree in sports industry from Ohio State in 2017.
Cuozzo spent two years as a graduate assistant at Georgia Tech and helped the Yellow Jackets collect a first-round win in the Atlantic Coast Conference tournament last season. Working primarily with hitters and catchers, Cuozzo helped implement programming and workouts, compiled and charted opponents film, and scouted opposing pitchers. Georgia Tech placed four players on All-ACC teams and produced one NFCA Southeast Region First Team member while Cuozzo was on staff.
Prior to Georgia Tech, Cuozzo spent three years as a student manager/assistant with the Fordham softball team. The Rams made three NCAA regional appearances during Cuozzo's time, winning the Atlantic-10 Championship in 2016, 2017 and 2018.
Cuozzo was part of the 2017 staff that earned an NFCA Mid-Atlantic Coaching Staff of the Year award. The team broke program records in batting average, RBIs, runs scored, total bases, walks and on-base percentage in 2017 as Cuozzo assisted the organization in hitting segments and game film analysis.
Cuozzo graduated from Fordham in 2019 with a bachelor's degree in economics. He later achieved a master's in sustainable energy and environmental management from Georgia Tech.
