RESULTS
WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Bucknell men's track and field team garnered points in four of the six events contested on the opening day of the Patriot League Outdoor Championships, and the Bison sit in a tie for fourth place with a busy Saturday ahead.
"Our men had an up and down day," said Head Coach Kevin Donner. "Although we have people in finals in many events, I felt we left some points on the board with some strategic errors. The energy was not very high for the men today. We hope to rebound tomorrow, and score a good amount of points."
Â
Bucknell picked up 10 points and is tied with Holy Cross for the No. 4 spot. Army piled up 110 points from those six finals and ran out to the early lead. Navy is in second place with 80 points, with Lehigh well back in third with 21. The Bison are in front of Boston University (6), Lafayette (5), Colgate (1) and American (0).
Â
Senior Brendan Bodisch had a productive day for the Bison. He scored with a seventh-place finish in the long jump, posting a mark of 22 feet, 3 inches, and he also advanced to Saturday's final in the 400-meter hurdles. Bodisch recorded the third-fastest qualifying time at 54.76, and he will join teammate Brian Kennedy (56.73) in the final.
Â
Bucknell's top finish on the day came in the 4x800-meter relay. The quartet of Owen Concaugh, Seth Hoffritz, Alex Simpson and Robert Dessoye finished fourth in a time of 8:03.10.
Â
The Bison also picked up points in two throwing events. Freshman Robert Feeney placed seventh in the hammer throw with a toss of 175-6, and senior Jordan Montero placed eighth in the javelin with a top throw of 196-2.
Â
In addition to Bodisch and Kennedy, several other Bison also qualified for Saturday finals. Owen Chase (7th, 3:57.70) and Brendan O'Toole (12th, 3:58.70) both moved on in the 1,500 meters. Alex Dessoye qualified in the 400-meter dash with the sixth-fastest time (48.99). Freshmen Griffin Schlegel (10th, 1:58.05) and Matthew Perello (8th, 22.32) advanced in the 800 and 200, respectively.
Â
Sixteen of the 22 events will be completed on Saturday at Army's Shea Stadium. The final day of the meet gets underway at 9:45 a.m., and live coverage on ESPN+ will begin at 1 p.m.
