Women’s Golf Finishes in Fourth Place at Patriot League Championship

RESULTS
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Led by 77s from Casey Morrow and Tatum McKelvey, the Bucknell women's golf team posted its best score of the weekend with a 313 in the final round of the Patriot League Championship, which wrapped up on Sunday at Saucon Valley Country Club. The Bison finished in fourth place with a 54-hole total of 953.
Freshman Cristina Canales closed with a 78 to make her Bucknell's low player for the championship. Canales shot 81-77 on Saturday, and her 236 total put her in a tie for 11th place. Canales missed earning All-Patriot League honors by one stroke.
Morrow and McKelvey both moved into the top 15 with their 77s. Morrow, a senior, finished in 13th place with a 238 total in her final Bucknell appearance. McKelvey moved up to a tie for 15th with a 244 composite.
Also for Bucknell on Sunday, freshman Kelsey Yi carded an 81, senior Erin Holmes shot 82 and junior Morgan Hennessy finished with an 89.
The Bison combined for eight birdies on Sunday, led by two apiece from Morrow, Canales and McKelvey.
It was quite a battle for the team and individual titles. Navy closed with a 305 team score to hold off Boston University by two strokes for the title. The two teams entered the final round tied for the lead. Richmond finished third at 932, followed by Bucknell, Lehigh (993) and Holy Cross (1055).
A pair of freshmen took the top two individual places. Rory Weinfurther of Richmond totaled 11-over-par 227 to finish one stroke ahead of Flair Kuan of Boston University and earn a trip to the NCAA Regionals. Kuan carded a final-round 71, but she was 4-under on the day before finishing with three straight bogeys. Alice Fan of Boston University placed third at 229, and five players tied four fourth place at 230.
