"This was our best meet of the year," said Head Coach Kevin Donner. I am seeing some solid improvement from a number of guys, and we are starting to identify who will be on our league roster. We still need a few areas to improve more over the next couple of weeks, and if that happens, we can be a pretty good team by the time we get to the league championships. I thought our two relays looked great today, as we knocked down our times quite a bit in the 4x100 and the 4x400 relay."
Bucknell finished first at the meet with 202 points. Lehigh (144), Army (138), and Colgate (27) also competed.
The Bison posted solid times in both the 4x100 and the 4x400 relay on Sunday. The squad of Alex Dessoye, Rayven Sample, Robert Dessoye, and Brendan Bodisch (3:17.28) took first by nearly three seconds over runner-up Army, and is just over two seconds from a spot in Bucknell's top ten.
In the 4x100, the Bison also took first, as Kevin Boyle, Matthew Perello, A. Dessoye, and Bodisch (42.05) outpaced runner-up Lehigh by over a second.
A. Dessoye also earned a victory in the 400 (49.83), followed closely behind by Sample (50.78) in the field of seven. Bodisch, who competed in both relays, also took second in the long jump (22-03.00). Tommy Cahill (21-06.75) was third. Cahill also competed in the triple jump (43-01.00), edging out teammate Ian Lawrence (43-00.25) for first place.
In the 1500, Brendan O'Toole (3:53.50) earned a win in the event, which is just over five seconds off the pace for a Bucknell top ten spot. O'Toole was joined in the top five by Owen Chase (3:55.53) and Riley Gardner (3:57.94).
Nicholas Marino (15-7) finished runner-up to Connor Reilly of Lehigh (16-0.75) in the pole vault. Anthony Zamarra provided another strong performance in the shot put (52-04.50) in finishing third, while James Kelly (186-00) finished first in the javelin.
Noah Martin earned a win in the steeplechase (9:30.12), while Asa Friedrich (9:56.17) finished second.
The Bison will next host a third home meet on Sunday, April 18 at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium.
