LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell wrestling team held its annual Bison Intrasquad on Friday night in Davis Gym.
Two-time All-American Zach Hartman, the defending EIWA champion at 165 pounds, and Coy Bastian each scored a technical fall for the Orange team, which defeated the Blue team by a commanding 29-12 margin.
During his 27-12 victory, Hartman racked up four takedowns in the first period, six in the second and three in the abbreviated third. Bastian, a freshman from nearby Selinsgrove, posted a 17-0 whitewashing, needing just 4:22 to secure five points for the Orange side.
Jaden Fisher, a two-time EIWA placewinner at 157 pounds, picked up a win in his debut at 174 pounds; like Hartman and Bastian, he netted bonus points for the Orange team behind a 12-4 major decision.
The 184/197 bout between Mason McCready and Logan Deacetis proved one of the most entertaining of the night. After rallying from behind to force overtime, McCready scored a takedown 30 seconds into the bonus frame to emerge a 7-5 victor and extend the Orange team's lead to 23-6.
Noah Levett racked up an impressive 3:11 of riding time during his 7-3 decision over Ty Williams, who defeated Kolby DePron on a last-minute takedown, 4-3, in the first bout of the night. DePron later defeated Darren Miller, a 2021 NCAA qualifier at 133 pounds, by a 12-7 decision; in the final 45 seconds of their bout, DePron scored a takedown and four back points to flip a deficit into a victory.
The Orange squad was led by assistant coaches Kevin LeValley and Tyler Smith, both Bucknell alumni. The Blue team was helmed by head coach Dan Wirnsberger and assistant coach Eric Morrill.
The Bison open their 2021-22 campaign at George Mason's Patriot Duals on Saturday, Nov. 13. They will face Averett (10 a.m.), George Mason (11:30 a.m.) and Bellarmine (1 p.m.) during that event.
