Women's Golf Finishes 5th at Patriot League Championship

MIDLOTHIAN, Va. -- The Bucknell women's golf team finished with its best score of the weekend but could not move up in the standings and settled for a fifth-place finish at the Patriot League Championship, which wrapped up Sunday at Independence Golf Club.Â
Freshman Sally Sohn fashioned three birdies and led the Bison with a 4-over-par 76 on Sunday, and she was Bucknell's low player for the tournament as well. Sohn finished in a tie for 16th place with a 54-hole total of 235 (75-84-76).
Senior Katie Childers also posted a top-20 finish. She was T-19th with rounds of 86-72-80.Â
Meredith Langs (77) and Casey Morrow (79) also posted scores in the 70s on Sunday, while Erin Holmes finished with an 81 and Sun Woo Jeon with an 85.Â
Led by individual champion Hanako Kawasaki, Boston University claimed the league title and earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Terriers compiled a 903 team total, which was four shots better than Navy and 12 ahead of host Richmond. Lehigh was fourth at 927, followed by Bucknell with 949. Holy Cross placed sixth but did not have four competitors available in order to post a score.Â
Kawasaki closed with a 73 and finished with a 6-over 222. Christine McDonnell was one shot back.Â
