Men's Track and Field Wraps Up Bison Outdoor Classic

LEWISBURG, Pa.--Â Billy Melchionni came close to breaking his own personal-best in both the 200 and the 400 as Bucknell wrapped up the final day of the Bison Outdoor Classic on Sunday afternoon in rainy conditions at Christy-Mathewson Memorial Stadium.Â
Results
"I was very pleased with the entire weekend from an athletic standpoint and an administrative standpoint," said Head Coach Kevin Donner. "We had some great performances with many high places , personal bests, season bests,  ECAC -IC4A qualifiers, and other solid marks. I feel as though the teams are really starting to come together now. The meet was very big and competitive as well as very organized. We received very nice feedback from visiting coaches on how well one of the largest meets on the east coast was run." Â
Melchionni took first in the 400 (47.43), besting Tyrell Maddox of Army by just under a second. The Loudonville, N.Y. native also placed third in the 200 (21.53) where he owns the fastest time in Bucknell history at 20.99.Â
Matt Fay, the reigining Patriot League Field Athlete of the Week won the pole vault at 16-6 ¾. Nicholas Marino was third .(15-9).  Â
In the 800, the Bison received two strong performances from Scott Gulizio and Robert Dessoye. Dessoye was fifth, moving into the ninth spot on Bucknell's all-time list (1:51.82) Gulizio was close behind in sixth at 1:51.96. Both times were IC4A qualifiers.Â
Jeff Brown placed fourth in the 100 (10.85), an IC4A standard. Bobby Gablein (11.09) and Ryquan Harris (11.15) also posted top 12 finishes at tenth and twelfth, respectively.Â
The 4x100 team of Harris, Brown, Steve Rizio, and Melchionni placed second (41.73) in the event, an IC4A standard.Â
Also finishing as runner-up in the 400 hurdles was Brendan Bodisch, who finished in second at 54.28, just off the pace for IC4A qualification. Â Â Matthew Barton was fifth (54.77).
Aiden Brewer was second in the decathlon (5253), while Tyler Wukitsevits was third (5230).Â
C.J. Falcioni posted a seventh-place finish in the hammer throw (185-5).  The throw is now seventh on Bucknell's all-time list.   Â
Bodisch also placed sixth in the long jump (21-11) while Micah Sims was seventh (21-7 ½)Â

Bucknell will also be at home this upcoming weekend for its next meet, taking part in the Bucknell Team Challenge on Saturday, April 20.  Â
