BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Zach Hartman pinned a nationally ranked opponent during the Bucknell wrestling team's dual at Lehigh on Friday night.
Hartman, who was ranked as high as 10th nationally, pinned Josh Humphreys, who came in as high as 17th, to improve to 14-4 on the young season. The duo were locked in a scoreless tie through two frames of their highly anticipated 157-pound bout. But, early in the third stanza, Hartman gained control of Humphreys with a cradle and brought his shoulders to the mat.
Jakob Campbell (125) and Drew Phipps (197) also scored victories for the Bison (2-5, 0-2 EIWA), who couldn't overcome the defending EIWA champions. After Hartman's pin trimmed their lead to 12-9, the Mountain Hawks (2-7, 1-1 EIWA) picked up bonus points in four of the final five bouts to emerge a 34-12 victor.
Campbell gave Bucknell early momentum with an 8-3 decision over Luke Resnick. The sophomore moved to 9-4 on the season, and 4-0 in dual action, with his decisive victory.
Locked in a 1-1 tie with less than 10 seconds remaining in the third period, Phipps and Kyle Gentile looked like they were headed to overtime. But Phipps scored a takedown with seven seconds left on the clock to eke out a 3-1 decision.
The Bison return to action on Jan. 19 when they travel to Harvard (12 p.m.) and Brown (7 p.m.) for their first EIWA double header of the season.

Hartman's pin, which came at the 5:51 mark, was his fourth of the season and first over a ranked grappler. To date, the freshman has faced eight ranked foes and holds a 4-4 record against them; all four of his losses, his only ones of the campaign, were to wrestlers slotted in Intermat's top 10.📌 ZACH HARTMAN WITH THE PIN! 📌
