Richards Named Year's First Bison Athlete of the Week

She Led the Bison to a 2-1 Record at the Bucknell Invitational
LEWISBURG, Pa. – Mimi Richards has been named the first Bison Athlete of the Week of the 2018-19 school year after leading Bucknell volleyball to a 2-1 record at the season-opening Bucknell Invitational. The Bison recorded wins over NJIT and Saint Peter's before dropping an exciting match against Youngstown State.
Richards averaged 9.7 kills and 7.3 total blocks over Bucknell's three matches. The junior had an impressive performance in the loss to Youngstown State, registering a double-double with 10 kills and 10 total blocks, including three solo. She was named to the All-Tournament Team along with teammate Alexa Bonanno.
Last year's Patriot League leader in blocks/set, Richards has the early lead again. She has averaged 2.0 blocks through the first 11 sets. The Bison also lead that category as a team, averaging 3.0 blocks/set.
Up next for Bucknell are three matches at the Terrier Invitational hosted by St. Francis Brooklyn. The Bison will play Delaware State on Friday, and Cal State Fullerton and NJIT on Saturday.
