MONROEVILLE, Pa. – Senior Lisa Jouravleva won a thrilling match on court one, but Bucknell women's tennis was on the wrong side of three other three-set singles matches in a 5-2 loss to Saint Francis on Friday at The Club Sport and Health.
Jouravleva pulled out a 7-6 win in the first set and then another 7-6 victory in the third set after falling 6-4 in set two to get the win over Lucia Seigford. The Red Flash sophomore was an NEC All-Rookie selection last season and was the 125th-ranked player in Spain prior to college.
The Bison picked up their other point on court six, where freshman Sofia Ayuso received a default because Saint Francis was short a player.
“This was a disappointing loss,” Bucknell head coach Rebecca Helt said. “We came out too flat in doubles and struggled to find some momentum in our singles matches. But I have to hand it to SFU, they played tough and just made fewer errors.”
Bucknell dropped to 4-2 on the season, while Saint Francis improved to 1-6.
The Bison are back in action Saturday when they travel to play Youngstown State in a 9 a.m. match at the Boardman Tennis Center in Boardman, Ohio.
