LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell volleyball head coach Anna Allison has announced the addition of Kevin Rodgers as an assistant coach for the 2016 season. Rodgers joins the Bison after spending the past three seasons as the head men's volleyball coach at Ramapo College in Mahwah, New Jersey.
"I am very excited to have Kevin joining us,” Allison said. “He will assist in all aspects of the program on and off the court, focusing a lot in helping our blockers and attackers. I look forward to having him in the gym."
Rodgers guided Ramapo to an 83-57 overall record and an outstanding 49-9 mark in the Skyline Conference during his three seasons with the program. The Roadrunners appeared in the conference championship game in each of the past two seasons. Under Rodgers' tutelage, the Roadrunners had six all-conference selections and one Skyline Rookie of the Year.
Rodgers was pulling double duty the past two years in New Jersey. He also served as an assistant coach for the Fairleigh Dickinson-Florham women's team for two seasons, helping the Devils win 33 games during that span. The team posted 16 victories in his first season as an assistant, which was a 12-win improvement from the previous season. His duties at FDU-Florham included training, scouting and recruiting.
Rodgers is a graduate of New Jersey City University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration. He was a standout player for the Gothic Knights, becoming the first player in program history to tally 1,250 kills and 1,000 digs during his career. The two-year team captain was a two-time All-NECVA Metro Division selection, including First Team honors in 2008.
Following his playing career with New Jersey City, he joined the men's team as an assistant coach for two seasons. He followed that by spending one season as the head coach of the Gothic Knights' men's and women's teams. He then briefly left college coaching to spend two years as the head coach of the 17/18 National Team for the Central Jersey Volleyball Academy.
Rodgers holds a Master's degree in sports administration from Fairleigh Dickinson University. He holds a level one coaching certificate from the USAV Coaching Accreditation Program and is training to become a USAV certified official.
Bucknell opens the season at home with the two-day Bucknell Tournament on Aug. 26-27. The Bison will play Fairleigh Dickinson, Canisius and East Carolina at the event.
