Breen Earns PL Field Athlete of the Week Honors

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell men's track and field junior Joseph Breen has been named M-F Athletic Patriot League Male Field Athlete of the Week following a trio of victories over the weekend.
In the final weekend before the Patriot League Outdoor Championships, Breen broke his own school record in the shot put Friday at the 122nd Annual Penn Relays. In a field of 42 throwers, Breen recorded a toss of 56-5 ¾, breaking his previous mark of 56-3. The throw ranks in the top-50 of the NCAA East Region.
Breen followed up his performance with a pair of victories Saturday at the Maroon and Gold Invitational. The junior finished first in the shot put with a heave of 53-11 ¾, while taking the top spot in the discus with a mark of 154-2.
Bucknell is set to host the 2016 Patriot League Outdoor Championships this weekend (May 6-7) at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium.
