LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Junior golfer Emily Larson has been named the Fifth Quarter Fresh Bison Athlete of the Week after a terrific performance at the Patriot League Championship over the weekend.
Larson earned First Team All-Patriot League honors finishing in a tie for fourth place in a field of 36 players. The Arlington, Virginia, native recorded rounds of 78-78-73 in the 54-hole championship. Her final-round 73 and her 229 totals were both career bests.
In Sunday's final round, after making a double-bogey on No. 12 (Bucknell started the day at the 10th hole), Larson went on to play the final 15 holes in 1-over, including birdies at 16 and 4. The 73 was just one shot off the best round of the day, a 72 from medalist Adela Cejnarova of Boston University.
Larson, who was a Second Team All-Patriot Leaguer last season after a T-10th finish at the league championship, tied for the team lead with an 80.0 scoring average this spring.
Her final-round 73, along with another 73 from sophomore Lindsay Dodovich, helped Bucknell to a 301 team score, which was the lowest in school history in a conference championship round. The Bison finished fourth in the team standings.
