LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell women's track and field senior Jess Bridle added another school record to her resume Sunday, setting a new mark in the 200-meter dash on the final day of competition at the Bison Outdoor Classic at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium. The Bison turned in quality results overall, including three new ECAC-qualifying marks.
Bridle finished first out of 71 runners with a time of 24.55, which breaks the previous mark set by Kim Nagotko in 2013 (24.59). The time also qualifies her for the ECAC Championships. Bridle now owns the school record for the event in both indoor and outdoor.
Overall, the Bison women set three school records this weekend. In addition to Bridle, Christine Bendzinski set a new school mark in the 1,500 while Kate Scott set a new record in the 5,000.
In the 4x100 relay, the quartet of Kafilat Oladiran, Kimberley Lapszynski, Carly Reiner and Bridle finished fourth with an ECAC-qualifying time of 47.37. The time now ranks third in the Bison record book.
Lapszynski also competed in a field event, taking sixth out of 44 in the long, recording a leap of 18-10. The jump is an ECAC-qualifying mark and ranks sixth in school history.
Jen Silvestri was the runner-up in the 400 hurdles, completing the run in 1:00.87. Silvestri also competed in the 100 hurdles, finishing eighth out of 53.
Sophia Nnadi took second out of 44 throwers in the hammer, recording a heave of 171-10. Her throw is now the top mark in the Patriot League. Nnadi also placed fifth in the shot put, while Abigail Brundage competed in the event, finishing fourth.
A team consisting of Allison Sharkey, Silvestri, Chrissy Haney and Bridle competed in the 4x400 relay, taking third with a time of 3:56.91.
“It was a fantastic weekend both athletically and administratively,” says head coach Kevin Donner. “The performances across the board were as good as any regular season meet we have ever had and the athletes seem very excited about the weeks to come. Being at home was nice and two of the next three weeks we are at home.”
The Bison will be back at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium for the Bucknell Team Challenge, a one-day event, on Saturday.
