Helt Records 200th Win as Women's Tennis Shuts Out La Salle

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell won all seven contested matches on its way to an easy 7-0 win over visiting La Salle in non-conference women's tennis action Tuesday at the Bucknell Tennis Courts. The Bison improved to 12-6 with their six win in seven matches.
Rebecca Helt recorded her 200th career win as the Bucknell women's tennis coach. She is the program's all-time leader in coaching wins.
The Bison jumped out ahead with wins in both contested doubles matches. Stephanie Pino and Emilie Bush were 6-3 winners at No. 1, while Melissa Parks and Mishi Papich recorded a shutout at No. 2.
Bucknell players also won by shutout in two of the five singles matches. Bush was a 6-0, 6-0 winner at No. 3, while Allie Lane defeated her opponent by the same score at No. 4. Lane's victory clinched the match for the Bison.
Pino stepped up to play No. 1 singles for the first time and won easily by scores of 6-0, 6-2. Parks bumped up to No. 2 singles and recorded a 6-1, 6-4 victory. Jorie Fox registered her first win of the spring, beating her opponent 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5.
“It was good to see our depth on display again,” Helt said. “It's the depth players that continue to push the team to get better.”
La Salle dropped to 0-13 on the season. Bucknell is a perfect 6-0 in the all-time series with the Explorers.
The Bison will play another non-conference match when they host Maryland Eastern Shore on Thursday at 3 p.m.
