Nick Bybel Named Bison Athlete of the Week

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Bucknell men's tennis senior Nick Bybel was named the 5th Quarter Fresh Bison Athlete of the Week on Monday. Bybel set the Bucknell wins record following his performance at the Bison Invite. It is the fourth time Bybel has been selected as Bison Athlete of the Week in his career.
The senior captain defeated teammate Daniel Wright in the Flight 1 singles bracket and teamed up with Bryan Adams to win in the finals of the Flight 1 doubles bracket en route to a 5-0 record over the two-day event. The mark raised his career record to 156-52, surpassing Josh Katten, who posted a 155-96 mark during his four-year career (2009-13).
Entering the event, Bybel was already Bucknell's record holder for career singles wins (90-22). This season, he was ranked 95th in the first edition of the Oracle/ITA Collegiate Men's Tennis Division I rankings. Last year, Bybel achieved a first for the Bucknell men's tennis team, debuting at No. 114 in the ITA national rankings.
The Bison Invite was the final home event of the fall. Several Bison players will compete at the ITA Championships starting on Oct. 3 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The rest of the squad will return on Oct. 9 at the Farnsworth Invite hosted by Princeton.
