Three Bison Remain in Winner's Bracket of Bucknell Invite

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell women's tennis team still has three players remaining in the winner's bracket after completing the first day of competition in the Bucknell Invite on Friday at the Bucknell Tennis Courts. Michele Urbinati, Lauren Fishbein and Madeline Melch are in the semifinals and will look to advance to the championship round when play resumes on Saturday at 9:30 a.m.
One of three Bucknell players in Flight A, Urbinati advanced to the semifinals with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Villanova's Tori Smyth. She improved to 2-1 on the season with the victory. Urbinati will play Marist's Karly Pang, a straight sets winner over Bucknell's Lisa Jouravleva, in the semifinals.
Fishbein rolled to a 6-2, 6-4 win over Marist's Lizzie Brozovich in the quarterfinals of Flight C. She will take on Villanova's Linley Busby in the semifinals. Busby advanced with a bye.
Melch had a bye in the quarterfinals of Flight B. She will play Marist's Ariel Shulman in the semifinals. Shulman was a 6-3, 6-3 winner over Villanova's Ellie Zimmerman on Friday.
In doubles action, Emilie Bush and Stephanie Pino won their first match in Flight B, topping Marist's Callie Morlock and Nikki Rohan 8-4. They fell to Villanova's Busby and Paulina Baget in the semifinals.
