LEWISBURG, Pa. – Freshman Jacquie Klotz (West Windosor, N.J./The Lawrenceville School) achieved a rare feat in Patriot League women's basketball following Bucknell's two wins last week, earning both the Lids Team Sports Women's Basketball Player and Rookie of the Week awards.
Klotz averaged a double-double as Bucknell moved into a third-place tie in the Patriot League standings with wins over Boston University and Loyola Maryland. The freshman netted a career-high 26 points on 9-for-10 shooting from the floor and also grabbed 10 rebounds in a win Wednesday over the Greyhounds. She followed that up on Saturday with a 19 point, 10 rebound and four assist effort as the Bison defeated the Terriers on the road.
Klotz is the first player to sweep the weekly awards in women's basketball since Army's Kelsey Minato did so on Feb. 18, 2013. She has been voted the league's top rookie three straight weeks. She was also selected the conference's Player of the Week by College Sports Madness.
Over the past five games, Klotz is averaging 17.2 points, 9.2 rebounds and 2.0 assists. She is shooting 60 percent from the field, 53 percent from beyond the arc and 92 percent from the foul line during that stretch.
Bucknell plays its final home game of the regular season when it hosts Lehigh on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
