LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Senior attacker Emily Kookogey on Monday became the first Bucknell women's lacrosse player in seven seasons to win the Corvias Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week award, and she was joined on the list of honorees by first-year attacker Gretchen Richter, who took home the first Corvias Rookie of the Week award of 2015.
Kookogey kicked off her senior year by posting a pair of four-point ledgers last week in a 9-7 win over Wagner and a 12-8 loss to Manhattan. She scored four goals against Wagner, then handed out three goals and an assist in the Manhattan game. Kookogey, who entered her senior year with 59 career goals, currently ranks fourth in the Patriot League in points per game.
The last Bison to earn Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week honors was Carol Donohue in the final week of the 2008 season.
Richter wasted no time making her presence felt in the Bucknell lineup. She scored the team's first two goals of the season in the opening minutes of a wire-to-wire victory over Wagner. Richter ended up scoring three times in that contest, and she also collected four ground balls and four draw controls. She had a ground ball, a draw control and two caused turnovers against Manhattan.
Bucknell has a challenging week ahead, with two top-20 teams on the docket. The Bison will travel to No. 10 Penn State on Wednesday at 7 p.m. before hosting No. 17 Johns Hopkins on Saturday at 1 p.m.
