LEWISBURG, Pa. – Sophomore Jacquie Klotz did most of her work in the first half of Bucknell's big 80-51 win over visiting Delaware on Sunday. With the Bison racing to a big lead, she sat out the fourth quarter, but what she did before then was still enough for her to receive the Lids Team Sports Patriot League Player of the Week honor on Monday.
Klotz scored 21 of her game-high 25 points in the first half against the Blue Hens, playing all but one defensive possession of the first half. She added nine rebounds, a career-high five assists, two steals and one block, and was also lauded by head coach Aaron Roussell for her defensive play on the perimeter. The points came from an efficient shooting performance, with Klotz going 9-of-14 from the field and 5-of-8 from beyond the arc.
Klotz ranks second in the Patriot League in both scoring (16.3 ppg) and rebounding (10.2). Her rebounding number ranks 29th nationally, including fourth among guards. She has recorded at least five rebounds in 18 straight games dating back to last season.
Monday's award marks the second time this season and the third time in her career that Klotz has been named the Patriot League Player of the Week. She earned the honor earlier this year after scoring 33 points and pulling down 19 rebounds in a 61-56 win at Manhattan.
Bucknell is 6-4 heading into its last non-conference game of the season. The Bison will play at Morgan State at noon on Tuesday.
