LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell wrestling team will carry a three-match winning streak into another busy weekend. The Bison have three EIWA duals in three different states on their schedule in a 48-hour span starting with Friday's home match vs. Columbia. Bucknell will then travel to New England on Sunday and wrestle at Harvard (12 p.m.) and Brown (4 p.m.).
Friday's home match will have live video via Bison Vision on the Patriot League Network, while live results will be available on TrackWrestling.com. Sunday's matches will feature video broadcasts on the Ivy League Digital Network.
The Bison are an impressive 8-3, 2-0 EIWA this season and are ranked 23rd nationally. They have been in the national rankings for a month now and are just two victories shy of equaling their win total from all of last year.
Bucknell is coming off an undefeated day last Saturday inside Davis Gym as it defeated George Mason and Sacred Heart by a combined 70-12 score while winning 17 of the 20 bouts contested.
Senior 285-pounder Joe Stolfi continues to put together an outstanding year. He is ranked 15th nationally and owns a 26-5 record with 13 wins by fall. He ranks second nationally in wins by fall this season and his 45 career pins place him third on the program's all-time list. Stolfi has won 13 consecutive bouts.
Junior Paul Petrov posted two pins at 125 pounds last weekend and is 9-1 in his last 10 matches. He is ranked 14th nationally and carries a 16-3 overall record into this weekend.
Senior Tyler Lyster went 2-0 last weekend and is now 22-11 this year. It marks his third consecutive 20-win season and the 22 victories are a new career high. Lyster has equaled his career high with five pins this season.
Bucknell has been especially strong when wrestling at home. The Bison have won seven of their last eight home duals and own a five-match home winning streak.
Friday will mark just the fourth dual match of the year for Columbia, which is 2-1 on the season.
Harvard is 1-3 on the season and is idle until Sunday, while Brown is 1-4 and will host Sacred Heart on Saturday.
Sunday's matches begin a four-match road trip for the Bison. Bucknell will also wrestle at Bloomsburg (Feb. 1) and American (Feb. 7) before returning home Feb. 13 for a match with Franklin & Marshall.
