LEWISBURG, Pa. – A volleyball Academic All-American during his playing days at Cal State Northridge, Ryan Adams joined the Bucknell volleyball coaching staff earlier this month. He spent last year as an assistant with the Northwest Nazarene women's volleyball program.
“Ryan came in during preseason and he was ready to hit the ground running,” said Bucknell head coach Anna Allison. “He was a great player, an Academic All-American and will bring great depth to our staff, especially in the middle blocking position. I am thrilled to have him.”
A 2009 graduate of Cal State Northridge, Adams earned a degree in urban studies and planning. Shortly after graduation he started working as a recreation aide in the City of Issaquah Parks and Recreation Department in Washington State.
Adams took his first college coaching job in the fall of 2012 when he became a volunteer assistant coach at the University of Idaho. He has also spent time as the head coach of Club ZZU in Moscow, Idaho, as an assistant coach for the PSVBA 18s Regional Team in Puyallup, Washington, and as an assistant volleyball coach at Foster High School in Tukwila, Washington.
In addition to his volleyball background, Adams has experience as an assistant facilities manager at Northwest Nazarene and as an academic coordinator at Idaho.
Adams joins a Bison program that opens its 2014 season this weekend at Cal State Fullerton's Titan Classic. Bucknell will play three matches in two days on its trip to California.
