LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell softball team played its way into the conference championship game during the 2014 campaign, but the squad's success was not limited to the playing field. On Thursday, the Patriot League released its softball Academic Honor Roll, and in a testament to the Bison's strong performances in the classroom during their stellar season, 11 members of the squad received spots on the list. Junior Cydnee Sanders, the 2014 Patriot League Softball Scholar-Athlete of the Year, highlighted the team's selections, while senior Mallory Lyons became one of just four student-athletes to earn the honor in all four of her collegiate seasons.
This year's honor roll is comprised of 62 student-athletes representing the league's seven softball programs. Lehigh led the way with its 13 selections, followed by Holy Cross (12), Bucknell (11), Boston University (9), Colgate (8), Lafayette (8) and Army (1).
To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade point average in the spring semester and participate in one of the Patriot League's winter or spring championship sports.
