LEWISBURG, Pa. – Former Bucknell two-time All-American wrestler Kevin LeValley is ranked 20th in the world in the latest FILA men's freestyle rankings. One of just 13 U.S. athletes across the eight weight classes to be ranked, LeValley is currently an administrative assistant with the University of Minnesota wrestling program and is competing as a member of the Minnesota Storm club team.
LeValley, who wrestled at 149 pounds during his collegiate days, is competing internationally at 70kg. He is coming off a third-place finish at the Dave Schultz Memorial International tournament in Colorado Springs, Colo.
Bucknell's all-time wins leader with 127, LeValley finished seventh in the country at both the 2010 and 2011 NCAA Championship. He was a three-time EIWA qualifier and captured the 2011 149-pound EIWA crown over Cornell's four-time NCAA champion Kyle Dake in a thrilling overtime bout that ended up being Dake's final loss during his record-setting college career that ended in 2013.
LeValley posted a sparkling 76-11 record over his final two campaigns as a Bison and those 11 losses were by a combined 21 points. He is one of just five Bucknell wrestlers to post at least two 30-win campaigns and his 42 victories in 2009-10 established a new school record. LeValley was 20-10 against ranked foes his junior and senior years, while also becoming the first Bison grappler to win an individual Midlands Championships crown and win at the NWCA All-Star Classic.
LeValley climbed as high as No. 2 in the national rankings as a senior. He finished his stellar career with 59 dual wins, a 22-8 EIWA dual mark and nine career pins.
