LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Bucknell wrestling team recently sent a handful of wrestlers to compete at the First Citizens Community Bank Lock Haven Invitational and a number of Bison came home placewinners. Additionally, six Bucknell grapplers attended the tournament as unattached wrestlers and a number had success, including weight class champions Tyler Lyster (197) and Joe Stolfi (285).
Eleven of the 13 Bison that competed at Lock Haven on Monday were placewinners, helping the squad to a fifth-place finish with 57.5 points. Lyster and Stolfi both recorded 3-0 records on their way to titles. Lyster had two shutouts and a fall, while Stolfi posted three falls. He now has 10 wins by fall this year and ranks fourth in program history with 42 in his career.
Freshman 184-pounder Tom Sleigh made the finals in his weight class, but dropped a 7-4 decision in the championship match.
Grim Gonzalez (133), Rustin Barrick (157), Robert Schlitt (165) and Tyler Greene (197) each recorded third-place showings as Bucknell had at least one top-three finisher in six of the nine weight classes one of its wrestlers was entered.
