LEWISBURG, Pa. – Fresh off a sweep of Patriot League foe Lafayette, the Bucknell women's volleyball team will look to keep momentum going forward as it continues conference play. The Bison will travel to play Loyola (Md.) on Saturday, and will return home to host Colgate for a rare Monday match.
Monday's match at Davis Gym will be broadcast free of charge on Bison Vision on the Patriot League Network. It is scheduled for a 4 p.m. start.
Following a split last season in which both teams won on their home floor, the all-time series between Bucknell and Loyola is dead even at 7-7. The Bison, which improved to 2-4 in the conference with their win over the Leopards, have a good chance to take advantage in the series. They catch a Greyhounds team that is currently riding a five-match losing streak, all against Patriot League opponents.
Colgate, on the other hand, enters its weekend matches following a big win over Lehigh, which was previously unbeaten in conference play. Nearing the halfway point of the conference slate, American now remains as the only unbeaten team, while the final three postseason spots are still wide open.
Sophomore libero Kristen Parks has provided the Bison with a spark thanks to her defensive play this season. She owns Bucknell's single-match record with 44 digs, and ranks fourth in the conference with an average of 4.08 per set. With 221 digs on the season, she has a great opportunity to crack the program's top-five in the record books.
Jordan Walker and Hailey Stout were both lauded for their play by the Patriot league after Bucknell's win over Lafayette last weekend. Walker, who tallied 14 digs and 11 blocks in the win, and Stout, who posted eight kills and seven digs, were named as honorable mentions for the conference's weekly awards.
Walker has had success against Loyola in the past. In the Bison's win last year, she led the team with 10 kills, while added two aces. Karen Campbell, who only trails teammate Erika Eastley for the conference lead in digs per set, had five block assists in last season's win over the Greyhounds.
After the game against Colgate, Bucknell will have played every team in the conference once. Coincidentally, the Bison will start the second half of the conference schedule when they travel to play the Raiders on Saturday, Oct. 18.
