Bucknell Wins Two Titles at Mount St. Mary?s Invite

Freshman Madeline Melch earned the Flight B Singles title on Sunday. She was set to face her classmate, Lisa Jouravleva, and was named the winner by default. This is the second title Melch has won for Bucknell.
In Flight C Singles, the final round came down to two Bucknell players, Melissa Parks and Jorie Fox. Parks was able to come away with the win, 1-6, 6-2 (10-8). This was the first flight win for Parks this season.
Junior Maria Cioffi made it to the final round of Flight A singles, but was defeated by Stacey Roehman from Howard, 6-1, 6-3. Freshman Michele Urbinati came up short in her consolation match with Emily Hughes from Loyola (Md.), 6-2, 6-1.
Allison Lane lost a tough one in Flight D Singles. The freshman competed in the final round against Loyola's Nicole Eberle, but was defeated 6-4, 3-6 (10-7). Senior Alyssa McAndrew defeated Sarah Cantor from Dickinson (6-1, 6-4) and was named the fifth place consolation winner.
In Flight E Singles Round Robin, Emilie Bush earned the top spot with wins over Mount St. Marys' Samatha Barbato (6-1, 6-1) and Dickinson's Jaclyn Baum (6-1, 6-1).
In Doubles play, Cioffi and Urbiniati won in consolation play in Flight A. They beat Jennifer and Kelly Smith from Mount St. Mary's, 8-3.
In Flight B Doubles, both duos from Bucknell were defeated in the semifinal round. Parks and Lane came up short against Mount St. Mary's (8-4), and McAndrew and Bush fell to Loyola (8-4).
This tournament concluded Bucknell's fall season. The Bison will be hard at work over the offseason, and will begin duals play in the beginning of February.
