Women?s Tennis Wins 14 Singles Matches at Mount St. Mary?s Invite

In Flight A Singles, junior Maria Cioffi won in her first match against Emily Highes from Loyola (Md.), 6-4, 6-4. She went on to defeat Howard's Umarah Mughnee, 6-3, 6-3. She will play in the final round on Sunday against Howard's Stacey Roeheman.
Michele Urbinati was defeated by Roeheman in the first round. Urbinati prevailed in her consolation match over Sydney Diamond of Dickinson, 6-2, 6-1. She will compete for fifth place on Sunday against Loyola's Hughes.
Lisa Jouravleva beat Mount St. Mary's Sruthi Kamprath, 7-8 (8-6), 6-1. She defeated Howard's Jessica Josiah (6-4, 6-2) in the next round. Also in Flight B Singles, Madeline Melch won against Joana Nunes of Dickinson, 6-1,6-1. She then defeated Kelly Smith from Mount St. Mary's, 4-6, 6-2, 11-9.
Jouravleva and Melch will face each other in the final round of play on Sunday.
In Flight C Singles, Melissa Parks made it to the final round with wins over Olivia Ott of Loyola (7-5, 6-4) and MSM's Danielle Nguyen (6-0, 5-7, (12-10)]. Jorie Fox defeated Sajela Harlow from Howard (7-5, 6-4) and Cassandra Powell from Mount St. Mary's (7-5, 6-4).
Parks and Fox add to the list of Bucknell teammates competing for a title; they will play each other in the final round on Sunday.
Allison Lane will represent Flight D Singles in the final round of play. She beat Sarah Cantor from Dickinson (6-1, 6-2) and Jenny Smith of Mount St. Mary's, 6-0, 7-5. Senior Alyssa McAndrew was defeated in her first round of play (6-2, 6-2), but came back strong for a win over Dickinson's Melissa Anese, 6-0, 6-0.
Cioffi and Urbinati were undefeated in doubles play as a duo before entering this tournament. Their streak came to an end on Saturday, as they fell to Hughes and Ott from Loyola, 9-7.
Jouravleva and Stephanie Pino won their first match in Flight A Doubles, 8-4, and will face a duo from Dickinson in the next round of play on Sunday.
In Flight B Singles, two teams from Bucknell are in the semifinals. Parks and Lane defeated Dickinson's Sarah Cantor and Emily Sprague, 8-1. McAndrew and freshman Emilie Bush knocked off Howard's Josiah and Harlow, 8-4.
The Mount St. Mary's Invite picks up again on Sunday morning. Match play is set to conclude in the afternoon.
